A New Year Of Preschool

After a fun (but long) summer, Jackson went back to preschool today.  This is his second year of preschool and he is now in the “Kangaroo class”.  He is in a class of 11boys and no girls!  He loved his first day of Kangaroo class with Ms. JoAnne, and mommy enjoyed remembering what peace and quiet is like. (Of course by 1:00 I couldn’t go wait to pick him up, give him a big squeeze and hear about his day!)

"I'm ready, let's go!"

"See, I'm fine. You can leave now, Mommy..."

Happy Campers

Last weekend we had a great time camping at Dogwood campground in Lake Arrowhead with our fellowship class from church.  There was something like 10 families and around 23 kids!  Let’s just say there was a lot of dirt and marshmallows involved…

On the way up… Jackson and his buddy Edward

Boys and their sticks!  (We had been there less than 30 minutes and there was already some form of dirt on Jackson’s forehead…)

Jesus and Bones

This weekend Jackson came to me and I could see the wheels turning in his head.  “Mom,” he said. “Jesus is in my heart!”  My heart leapt and my eyes began to swell, and then… “And I think there’s some bones in there too!”

On a semi-related note, we have been talking a lot about bones and skeletal systems lately.  No, not because I thought this topic should be next on his 3 year old learning agenda, but because he has been asking about “the hard things” inside his arms and fingers.

He has definitely entered an inquisitive phase.  “Why?” is his new favorite question.  I hear it probably 237 times a day.  Jim’s favorite way of handling it is to require Jackson to ask the “why” question in a complete sentence.  Although this can be amusing, I don’t have the patience for it.  So, I ask all the rest of you parents for your sage advice… How do you (or how have you) handled the “why phenomenon”?  I can’t wait to read your comments!
