These Last Few Months

So the end of my pregnancy is fast approaching, and with only about a week 1/2 left before baby Jane’s arrival, I thought I would give a small update on what we have been up to during the last few months:

One plant, three flowers, two trees and one Daddy

This post is directly related to the last.   As you have read, Jim has been hard at work landscaping our front yard and has done a little work on the side and back yard as well.  I am so thankful for his hard work.  Apparently, it hasn’t been waisted on Jackson either…

Daddy is away at a meeting tonight, so Jackson and I are hanging out together.  I was folding laundry and Jackson called out “Mom I have something to show you!”  He came over and brought me a beautiful lego creation.  Mind you, it wasn’t as large or as grand as some he has built, but to me it was by far the most special.

Before I could even tell him I loved it, he said “I made this because Daddy has done so much for us and made the flowers and plants look so nice in the yard!  Look, there is one plant, three flowers, two trees and one Daddy!”

A Teddy Bear Picnic

In Jackson’s preschool class they learn about a new letter of the alphabet every week.  This week was the letter T and on Wednesday they got to bring their favorite Teddy Bear to have a “Teddy Bear Picnic” complete with Gummy Bears and Teddy Grahams.

Jackson brought his favorite Teddy Bear that "Papa" got him from Jackson Hole.

He’s in the Lord’s Army…

Today was Jackson’s annual Christmas performance at preschool.  Since he is in an all boy class, they did a performance of “I’m in the Lord’s Army” and got to wear camo clothes and como Santa hats to go with the theme.  Jackson is the one in the front row with the tan jacket on.

All Things Autumn

I have been absent from the blogging world lately, mostly because I was putting a lot of time into preparing to speak to my women’s Bible study.  But now that it is over I am trying to catch up with my postings.  In an effort to do that, this post will contain “all things autumn” that our family has been up to recently.

For our fellowship class party at church, the theme this year was “Get Your Game On!” (and the theme could be interpreted any way you wanted).  So we decided to dress as our favorite board game “Settlers of Catan“.  If you are familiar with it you will get a kick out of this photo.  And if you are not, then just laugh at how silly we look (and to interpret it for you: Jim is brick, I am wheat and Jackson is the robber).

Teammates and Trophies

This was Jackson’s last week of Mighty Tykes Soccer through the City of Brea.  Although I don’t necessarily think he has a soccer star career in his future, the little guy put in great effort and really enjoyed having a coach and being part of a team!

Welcome To The Funny Pages

There are many funny moments at our house, thanks to the little guy.  Here are a few of the most recent:

This was a craft that he made at the childcare area at the gym.  It was a wonder in itself that he made a craft to begin with, because he usually prefers to play with the cars etc.  But when I picked him up, he said it was for me.  I said ” I love it!  Thank you so much!  Tell me about it…”  And he said “It’s me mommy!  I told the lady that I have blond hair, but she only gave me yellow.  But see- I made the eyes blue like mine!  And they are crying because you just gave me a spanking.”

We were driving in the car and I saw that the car in front of us had a stuffed animal in the back window.  I said “Look Jackson, what do you see in that window?”  He said “A lion mom!”  And I replied, “Yeah, it’s kind of like a lion, but it has spots.  What is it?”  And he said “Oh, it’s a cheeto!”

This is Jackson holding up his snap pea.  He took one bite of it and then decided it looked like a slug!  What do you think?  Dinnertime has never been so much fun…

This last one happened just today.  On the car ride home from preschool today Jackson was telling me how he was assigned the job of “line leader” today in his class.  He said that this means that he is “in charge of leading the line.”  When we had arrived home, I asked him to pick up his trash from the floor of the car and throw it away.  He said “Momma, I told you I’m in charge of the leading the line, not picking up trash!”

The Interview

I apologize for the lack of posting lately.  I guess you could say I have had a lengthy case of “blogger’s block”.

Anyway, Jim had a great idea the other day.  Since we hadn’t captured much of Jackson on video lately, Jim decided to interview him on video.  The result is something that will be so fun to watch when he is all grown up.  Among the subjects he discusses are his favorite toys, his friends, Jesus and yours truly.  Priceless!

“Mommy disclaimer”: No, we have not allowed him to watch Transformers or Star Wars.  He has an older friend that has Transformer toys and another older friend that has Star Wars toys and he looks up to both of these friends so much.  So of course, in his book, Star Wars and Tranformers “are the coolest”!

These Summer Days

So I haven’t been as good lately at documenting our outings.  Two recent excursions have been to the Discovery Science Center (mainly to see the Bob The Builder and Dinosaur exhibits), and a homemade Ice Cream Social for our fellowship class from church.  We also did Vacation Bible School At Church two weeks ago.  I enjoyed working with the 5th and 6th graders for the week and Jackson had fun at the VBS preschool program that the kids of those that volunteer for the week get to attend.  Enjoy our recent pics from these summer days…

Journey To The Land Of Legos

I have been so busy and exhausted from doing 5th & 6th grade VBS at church this week, that I have not yet posted about last weekend.  But better late than never…

This past weekend my parents came to town to take Jackson (and they let us tag along too) to Legoland!  We had so much fun.  He was really the perfect age for it and loved every second!  Thanks Grammie & Papa!

To complete the whole “lego experience” Jim thought that it would be fun to order Jackson some legos so that they would arrive right after we got home.  He won 20 lbs of legos on e-bay for cheap!  I think Jackson is set with legos for the rest of his life…
